Mentaio is designed with a privacy-first mindset and does not collect, store, or share any personal information.
1. What Mentaio Collects
Mentaio itself collects nothing. We do not store your name, email, device ID, usage data, or any personal content. Your entries, notes, and thoughts are stored locally on your device only.
2. IP Address
Your IP address may temporarily appear in backend logs while processing a request but is not stored, tracked, or used.
3. Third-Party Service: Amazon Bedrock
Following a federal order that requires OpenAI to preserve all user data, as of 6-19-2025 Mentaio now relies exclusively on Amazon Bedrock for AI‑powered insights.
Amazon Bedrock transmits every request over encrypted channels and, according to Amazon’s data‑protection guidelines, does not log or retain any inputs or outputs after processing. This design offers a significantly more privacy‑centric experience.
- No request content is stored once processing is complete.
- Your data is never used to train Amazon models.
- Only minimal metadata (for example, IP address) may be logged temporarily to prevent service abuse.
- Review the Amazon Bedrock Data Protection Policy for more information.
Mentaio still stores none of your entries in the cloud; all data remains securely on your device.
4. Optional Cloud Backups
If enabled, your notes may be backed up to your personal cloud storage account. This is managed by your operating system provider (e.g., Apple or Google) and is not accessible to Mentaio or any third parties.
5. No Tracking
Mentaio includes no ads, analytics, cookies, or tracking SDKs. You are completely anonymous while using the app.
